Anaximander posited cosmic order to be caused by the eternal dine (vortex/motion) through which the opposites (hot/cold, wet/dry, up/down) are forged out of the arche (first thing) of apeiron (the infinite). The balance or order of the cosmos is maintained by a cosmic principle of dike (justice).
