The 'hedonic principle' may be stated as follows: Whatever brings about the most pleasure for me is what is right.
It should be noted that classical Hedonism (e.g., Epikouros) usually defines pleasure as the absence of suffering (ataraxia) as opposed to brute physical stimulation. Ethical hedonists are well aware of the Hedonistic Paradox and, therefore, avoid definitions of the good that would be subject to it.
