Slippery Slope
In Logic, Slippery Slope is an informal
fallacy of weak induction. This
fallacy occurs when
someone claims that a given event will necessarily cause a chain of events that lead to a
bad consequence in the future.
For example, “You should not hang out with people who smoke marijuana because if you do, you will try it.
And if you try marijuana, you are likely to try cocaine. And if you try cocaine you’re likely to try heroin. And
that will make you a junkie.”
