Suicide
In Biomedical Ethics, the intentional termination of one's own life through direct action or neglect.
Some ethicists draw a distinction between Active Suicide (i.e., any direct action intended to terminate
one's own life) which is usually condemned, and Passive Sucide (i.e., the refusal of any life-sustaining
treatment which leads to one's own life) which is more widely thought to be acceptable. The acceptability
of any form of suicide rests in the autonomy
of the person.
